Performance Experience

Chris is a highly experienced professional musician specialising in Tenor and Countertenor performances. He has performed across Australia and internationally in the UK, New Zealand, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, Germany, France, Belgium, and Singapore. He has been a soloist in notable works such as Bach’s St John and St Matthew Passions, Handel’s Messiah, and Mozart’s Requiem Mass. Additionally, Chris has performed contemporary repertoire alongside artists like Ben Folds with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Hans Zimmer in prestigious venues such as Hamer Hall, Melbourne Recital Centre, Rod Laver Arena, and St Paul’s Cathedral in London.

Chris' ensemble experience is extensive, having performed with renowned groups like the Choir of Trinity College Melbourne, Melbourne Bach Choir, Consort of Melbourne, Melbourne Octet, Australian Chamber Choir, Ensemble Gombert, Victoria Chorale, St John’s Southgate Choir, St Paul’s Cathedral Melbourne, and Polyphonic Voices.

Chris' love for music and singing began at 8 when he asked his mum to join Ballarat’s Constance Coward-Lemke Junior Choir and became one of their most enthusiastic members. Throughout his school years, he learned singing and piano and was a regular cast member in musical theatre productions with Ballarat Lyric Theatre Company and Ballarat Light Opera Company. During Year 12, while completing VCE Music Performance, Chris was named Ballarat’s ‘Young Performer of the Year’.

He went on to study classical singing at Melbourne University, graduating with a Bachelor of Music Voice Performance with Honours, followed by a Graduate Diploma in Education. During his time at university, Chris was a member of the Newman College Choir, where he performed regularly as a soloist and further developed his musicianship and ensemble singing skills.

After completing his university studies, Chris relocated to the UK, joining the Wells Cathedral Choir as a Tenor and Countertenor. During his time in the UK, he also sang with several prestigious choirs, including New College Choir Oxford, Magdalen College Choir Oxford, Hampton Court Palace Chapel Choir, and Guards Chapel Choir, gaining extensive experience in ensemble singing and advanced repertoire.

Teaching Experience

Chris' approach to teaching is guided by his lifelong love of music and belief in the power of music to bring joy and fulfilment to life. His gentle, kind demeanour allows him to share the joy of music making with his students in an engaging and relatable way.

Chris is a highly experienced teacher, teaching students of all ages and abilities. He first began teaching singing lessons to members of the Newman College Choir in 2010 and has continued teaching singing to all ages since then. During Chris’ time in the UK, he taught singing lessons full time at an all girls K-10 school in Oxfordshire, where he taught students aged 5 to 16. Once back in Australia, while singing in the Choir of Trinity College at the University of Melbourne, he taught singing lessons to the choir members for over five years. Chris has also worked as a singing teacher and classroom music teacher since 2013, at schools including Sophia Mundi Steiner School, The Kilmore International School, and Assumption College Kilmore, where he is currently the Year 7-12 classroom music teacher, which includes teaching VCE Contemporary Music Performance.​​​​
